Hidden Rules
There are social rules that are explicity stated in places, like “No running in the halls” or “Use Respectful Language.” But there are also rules which aren’t explicity stated, like the elevator is off limits or what the expectations are for cleaning up after lunch and getting outside to recess. Those are the “hidden” rules. It’s essential that kids learn the not only the explicit rules but also those rules that are part of the hidden curriculum. These activities help them start to practice picking up on clues around them.
